We exist to promote ethnic diversity across sports and physical activity, and we are the only organisation in the UK to do so. Initially set up in 1998 by Sport England in partnership with the Commission for Racial Equality, we are now a fully independent body and a national partner of Sport England.

We have three primary aims:

1) To raise awareness and understanding of the needs of Ethnically Diverse Communities within the sports and health sector, change attitudes, and increase participation in sports and physical activity.

2) Empower individuals and communities to participate in this change and achieve their full potential through sports and activity.

3) To advise and support policy-makers and delivery bodies to include all under-represented groups, drawing on our experience with Ethnically Diverse Communities.

We support the delivery of the West Midlands Combined Authority’s Local Industrial Strategy (LIS) – working to increase jobs, businesses, and productivity in the region. Our partners include local enterprise partnerships, councils, growth hubs, universities, Chambers of Commerce, and the private sector.

Our Vision for 2030 is that Wolverhampton will be a place where people come from far and wide to work, shop, study and enjoy our vibrant city. It will be transformed while retaining all those attributes that give our city its unique identity. A healthy, thriving and sustainable international ‘smart city’ – renowned for its booming economy and skilled workforce, rich diversity and a commitment to fairness and equality that ensures everyone can benefit from success.

Coventry City Council is committed to improving the lives of the people of Coventry by improving equality of access to our services, achieving a culture of respect for people from different backgrounds, challenging harassment and discrimination, and ensuring that our employment opportunities are fair, and our workforce is representative of our city.

Our mission: We inspire people to become engaged and active in a city globally renowned for culture and sport. As a charity, we find innovative ways to make this happen across Glasgow’s diverse communities, whether that’s co-locating libraries, museums, and sports centres in places like Pollok and Kelvin Hall or hosting the first UCI World Cycling Championships in 2023.

It shows how it intends to be bold, ambitious and confident in grasping opportunities, tackling inequalities and transforming the city. The Corporate Plan 2022 to 2026 sets out the vision for the city, strengthening Birmingham’s position as a thriving, young and diverse global city, as the beating heart of the UK both commercially and culturally and a place where everyone is included in the opportunities the city can offer.

Groundswell is about building empathy in communities. Helping neighbours find out that they are more the same than they are different.

When we understand each other it becomes harder to mock, detest and hate and easier to band together on the things that matter in life for all of us. We succeed when people see each other as people, when communities are strong because of shared humanity despite their differences.

This is a long game, it is not a battle that will be won overnight, since the hot and divisive issues change, and neighbourhoods change. With everything so dynamic, our strategy is to build the mechanisms, direct people to the right tools, create the connective tissue, and contribute to the consciousness of our communities in order to free them from prejudice, hate and extremism.
